I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly. ~ John 10:10

September 2013 Update 3

Wednesday begins!!  I am a bit sleepy this morning.  I think I need a Mt Dew!!  After breakfast we headed to church.  This morning Gingo, one of our new friends, brought a message for the kids.  It was so good!  They are able to speak out of experiences that are the same that these kids live everyday.  He shared with us about building a strong foundation.  This is a good for me to hear too.  To remember that I need to depend every moment on my God. It is easy to get into the swing of things and start working under my own power.  Perhaps that is why I’m a bit tired.  Thank you Lord that you are always teaching even us who you have sent to teach.  Off to small groups now.  As I walk around, it seems like the kids are really well engaged with the leaders and talking more than I would have thought.

Today is games and competition time!!  We will play some futbol since we didn’t finish yesterday.  We are also playing a water game that helps the kids to better understand how to communicate with each other and with people in general.  It is also just a lot of fun and it is HOT today, so they aren’t minding getting wet.  We also did some relay races.  I am actually impressed with how evenly distributed our teams are.  Generally there is one weak or one very strong, but this camp it is very close between all 4 teams.  Should be interesting to see friday night who will prevail!!
Lunch time!!  Today we had noodles…YUM!!  I ate too much again!  More futbol after lunch!!  Orange Avengers took on the Green Cryptonite and were victorious again 1-0.  Yellow Falcons and Green Cryptonite then played and it ended in a draw.  Finally we had Orange and Red play and it too ended in a draw.  See what I mean about evenly matched?!?!  This wraps up our round robin play…tomorrow we will set the final tournament for the championships.
CPR this afternoon focussed on Love vs Infatuation.  It is a fun lesson because we talk about hormones and it is a fun way to really talk about where these draw their line and how they can look at relationships and decide what are real love and what are just for the other’s gain.  I hope these kids will truly hear this word and decide to save themselves for marriage.
After dinner we headed back to worship.  Tonight we are looking at the righteousness that we receive from Christ.  I am thankful because I feel like the Lord came and the Holy Spirit did a great work tonight.  I was able to share more of my own story as I shared and the kids seemed to respond well.  So many of these kids walk with their heads low and are told that they aren’t worthy of love.  For them to hear from an adult and a mzungu (white person) that they can walk proud because they have received the righteousness of God.  I actually saw they sit up in their chairs and smile.  So sweet!!  We have talked a lot about the love of God.  I hope these kids know they are loved!!!  We ended the evening with another movie…The X-Men.  The boys wanted some adventure 🙂  But it meant another late night.  I think it was after midnight when we headed back.  Yikes!!
Definitely going to need your prayers for strength and energy!!  Tonight Hayden and I chatted some about her experience thus far.  So cool to hear that she was able to share her story with her group this morning.  I continue to be impressed with her willingness to build relationships of consequence.  Some people come and get so frustrated by language and culture stuff, but to see someone so young able to let down her guard to awesome!!  Praise God!  I pray that her story would multiply God’s work in these kids lives.
